Neon Crab Street Art Competition

The pandemic and social isolation has taken a toll on all of us. So we at the Neon Crab have set out to do something about it, and give our community a little sense of normality that we are all missing. Safely of course! As we have now entered into Phase 3, under the direction from Lambton Health and the City of Sarnia, we invite you to join us for Neon Crab’s first annual street art competition. This is a free competition and performance open to the public on Saturday September 26th for one day only. Pastels are the medium and works produced are temporary. Remarkably, there are no fees! Materials will be provided. You need only provide your talents and enthusiasm. Space is limited so make sure you apply early!!
Our aim is to bring the art of street painting to citizens and artists of Sarnia, through this annual public performance.
We strive to utilize local artists and art groups to promote the city as a creative art destination.
Never done a street painting? Have no fear, the process is both challenging and rewarding. Performance information, rules, tips, tricks and recommendations will be provided. Concrete, pastels and a few other items will be provided. The competition will take place from 9:00am until 6:00pm on Saturday September 26th
The winner be announced at 7:00pm that day., during an after party at the C Lounge on-site, where awards and prizes will be presented. The competition will take place on the boulevard in front of the Neon Crab Plaza at 452 Exmouth St. in Sarnia, Ont.
An artists’ orientation for accepted and confirmed participating artists will be available with a brief workshop the evening before for any competitors who wish to gain some insight, ask questions or learn some techniques.
Lunch will be provided to competitors during the event by KFC across the street and a dinner will be provided by Cravens Chill and Grill on site in the plaza.
The application process is easy. You can apply by emailing Will@neoncrab.ca with “Street Painter” in the subject line. Or you can pick up a form to fill out from Neon Crab Tattoos at 452 Exmouth St. in Sarnia Ontario, or at the White Church Gallery at 76 Thomson St. Courtright, Ontario.
